From school selection and crafting an application strategy, to self-marketing in your resume/essays and interview preparation, my comprehensive application preparation services will assist you throughout the application process. The number of sessions needed for comprehensive application preparation varies from client to client and our time together is customized to your individual needs. I look forward to speaking with you about your specific goals and determining the best schedule to reach them!
Resume/CV Review
The resume or CV is a standard part of most applications and is often the admission committee's first introduction to you and your accomplishments. To those unaccustomed to Western-style resumes and/or CVs, creating a concise, yet detailed document can be a challenge. Clients are expected to submit a draft resume/CV prior to this session and we will discuss ways to improve the draft. This is generally a single session; however, a second session may be used if further work is needed or if the client requests editing.
Essay Strategy/Review
Most of my clients find that application essays form the bulk of their applications cases. Your essays are by far the best way for you to explain things that are not apparent from test scores and a simple resume, as well as to make yourself stand out from the crowd. The importance of submitting thorough, well thought out essays cannot be emphasized enough and developing such essays takes time. Essay sessions are highly customizable, depending on client needs. Whether you already have a complete first draft set of essays, or are just beginning to think about the kinds of content to include, I will work with you to create an essay-writing strategy that works for you and assist with issues that come up through the process of writing and refining your essays.
Special note: Essay sessions are highly-interactive and require a deep commitment on the part of the client. I neither write clients' essays, nor do I offer "native check only" services. I work closely with my clients to facilitate their writing the best possible essays, but it is up to the client to draft and make major revisions to his or her own essays.
Interview Preparation
Throughout the years I have had the opportunity to conduct interviews with hundreds of individuals, ranging from students, middle management, and executive leadership in a wide range of industries. The interview can often be the "make or break" part of the MBA or graduate school admissions process.
Interview sessions are my favorite part of the application consulting process, and both my experience as an interviewer and training as an actor can be a great benefit to you when preparing for your admissions interview. I can help you to develop your answers, improve your body language and presentation, avoid common pitfalls and (most importantly) practice answering standard and non-standard interview questions in a variety of "mock interview" settings.
Interview preparation is best done face-to-face, which is why I do not recommend telephone sessions (unless you are specifically preparing for a telephone interview). I do ask that interview sessions be conducted via video-enabled Skype if at all possible.
